The Mummy meets Relic and Alien in a relentless action-horror thriller.
The Maya did not build a tomb. They built a prison.
Hidden deep within the Amazon jungle lies a mysterious lost city, abandoned for centuries and concealed from the outside world.
When a maverick archaeologist discovers its ruins, he contacts the British Museum, which is funding his expedition. Archaeologist Greyson Bradshaw is organising a major exhibition of Maya artefacts and immediately travels to the Amazon, convinced the discovery could be the archaeological find of a lifetime.
Beneath the city, the two men descend into a labyrinth of subterranean chambers representing Xibalba, the feared Maya underworld. There, sealed inside a secret chamber, they discover an ancient stone sarcophagus.
To Greyson, it is the perfect centrepiece for his forthcoming exhibition.
To the Maya, it was something else entirely.
A prison.
Despite the warnings carved into the chamber, Greyson arranges for the sarcophagus and its surrounding artefacts to be transported to England. From the depths of the Amazon to a cargo vessel crossing the high seas, and finally to the streets of London, the terrible secret buried within begins to awaken.
The Maya went to extraordinary lengths to imprison it.
Greyson is about to discover why.
Some things are best left unfound.
The dangerous past the Maya tried so desperately to bury is about to become our terrifying future.
