As the seven man crew of Avro Lancaster, P-PETER stepped down from the aircraft onto home ground following six hours of hell over enemy territory. Their twenty seventh operation behing them, only three remaining before a well deserved six month stand down. That was before their captain was informed they had been chosen to carry out a top secret deep penertration raid covering the entire breadth of France in broad daylight.
