A Solar Union spaceship lands on the Kuiper object Quaoar. The crew, led by Squadron Leader Bill Davis, finds alien artefacts on the dwarf planet. The team penetrates an underground cavern and discovers a terrifying, fossilised alien during their exploration. When the alien suddenly awakens from its stupor, the only option for the space travellers is to flee. Through the alien's penetrating bioelectric aura, the space travellers receive fragments of its thoughts. The creature transmits an impulse that lodges itself in the minds of the landing team: Globuster!
The alien being's behaviour is extremely hostile. Peaceful contact is impossible. Karokan, a member of the crew, falls victim to the alien, Davis and Tubian escape from the Globustercave.
The bizarre intelligent being begins to hunt them down, destroying the exploration team's spaceship in the process. The Globuster has the ability to track other creatures by their mental radiation. While trying to escape, Bill Davis and Caroline Tubian realise that they are inferior to the extraterrestrial in every respect. Their weapons are ineffective against the alien. The Globuster wraps itself in a protective field against which there is no defence.
At the last second, a special unit from Triton Base appears and is able to rescue the two space travellers. The Globuster retreats in the face of its supposed superiority and escapes in a lenticular spaceship. Before escaping, the alien triggers a disastrous process and changes the trajectory of the dwarf planet. Quaoar is now on a collision course with Triton ...
