A murdered girl's body is found in an abandoned Cobalt silver mine in 1949.

Forty-five years later James Thorpe, a retired journalist, finds he has to re-create his past in order to solve the puzzle of what happened to his family in the aftermath of that discovery.

Although a lot of the descriptions of places in Cobalt as it was then seem fairly accurate, this book is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons is coincidental and unintended. That being said, it is not hard to envision Cobalt as it was while reading this book. The cover features one of his father George Cassidy's watercolours of Cobalt 'back in the day.'
