What it is, diagnosis, classifications, transmission, signs and symptoms, risks of exposure, treatment, prevention.

Melioidosis is a potentially life-threatening infectious disease caused by the bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei. It is found in soil and water in many countries, particularly in Southeast Asia and Northern Australia. The infection is usually acquired through contact with contaminated soil or water, or through the inhalation of infected dust. It can also be transmitted through direct contact with infected animals or through the bites of certain insects.

Symptoms of melioidosis can vary widely, but may include fever, cough, chest pain, skin lesions, and joint pain. The infection can spread to multiple organs and can be difficult to diagnose, as it can mimic other diseases.

This book contains a an explanatory form of this medical condition. the pathophysiology, risk factors, medical and nursing management. Great study book for nursing and medical students.
