MASKIROVKA
Kosovo War 1999.
The air campaign does not go as planned.
Despite NATO's overwhelming firepower, the Yugoslav defences are far more dangerous than expected. Worse, daring operations launched against allied forces suggest significant foreign support.
Without complete air dominance, the ground offensive to liberate Kosovo cannot start.
Before the war, a resurgent Cold War superpower made Belgrade an offer impossible to refuse. Russia is ready to send its best expert on Maskirovka, the Russian art of surprise and deception, to help Yugoslav forces to fight off NATO's air power.
Moscow hopes to ridicule NATO and reclaim its place on the world stage.

The new "Tukan" wake detector just surprised the crew again. A submarine wake has been detected!
The Russian sonar is not sensitive enough to pick up a submarine creeping at 5 knots beyond a few miles. The sonar team needs to wait for the contact to be close enough or to accelerate to hear it.
After a few minutes, they are rewarded; a new signature appears on the Tambov sonar display behind the "Sirena" mobile decoy.
"Captain, new submarine contact, dead ahead, 5000 meters. Classification; improved Rubis class!"
Fiction inspired by true events, the author transports you aboard French Mirages above Kosovo, destroyers and nuclear submarines in the Adriatic, all deployed to fight off a cunning enemy.
