Freely inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name, Ligeia is a gothic graphic novel that weaves together love, death and philosophy. Ligeia, a woman of extraordinary intelligence and a passionate reader of Schopenhauer, dies and leaves her husband, Sir Roderick, in utter grief. She believes that the will, the blind and universal force that governs all things, can bend even death itself. So she refuses to accept her end and desperately tries to return to him. When Roderick marries the young Lady Rowena, Ligeia's presence grows ever more unsettling: her longing is so absolute that it threatens to overwhelm the very identity of the new bride. Amid spectral apparitions, otherworldly jealousy and an obsession that defies the boundaries between life and death, the story becomes a meditation on the power of the will and on what remains of us when everything else fades away.
