Leigh Sales AM is an accomplished author and journalist who works at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. For a span of twelve years, she served as the anchor for the network's prime time current affairs program, 7.30.
She has been prominently involved in the ABC's coverage of significant events such as federal elections and budget nights. Throughout her career, she has also conducted interviews with every living Australian Prime Minister, as well as numerous world leaders and celebrities, ranging from Hillary Clinton and Tony Blair to Paul McCartney and Elton John.
In addition to her journalistic achievements, she has authored four books, including the widely acclaimed Any Ordinary Day and her most recent work, Well, Hello. It’s an anthology of humorous stories from Leigh and her podcast co-host Annabel Crabb, in which they discuss live advice, friendships, social media, and a little bit of everything in between.
Meet Leigh Sales AM
Leigh Sales was born in Brisbane in 1973, and attended the Queensland University of Technology for a bachelor of journalism before earning a Master of International Relations from Deakin University.
She started work soon after at ABC, and has worked her way up. She was the Washington correspondent for several years, then became ABC’s national security correspondent, all before becoming the anchor for 7.30.
In 2014, Sales and Annabel Crabb started a podcast called Chat 10 Looks 3, where they talk about television and film, books, and pop culture.
She has been honoured with the prestigious Walkley Award, Australia's highest journalist
prize, on three occasions. Leigh has also been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for her services to broadcast journalism, and has been nominated for the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.
