Larry Writer is an experienced journalist, author and publisher with an impressive resume.
He worked for Australian Consolidated Press for twelve years as a writer and editor, including three years as ACP’s European Editor and London Bureau Chief. Larry then spent a number of years as a writer, editor and London Bureau Chief for Time Inc. and spent six months with that company in New York writing for People magazine and Sports Illustrated.
In recent years he has been a freelance writer for The Weekend Australian magazine, The Australian Financial Review, the Herald’s ‘Sydney’ magazine, The Bulletin, Madison and The Australian Women’s Weekly.
During this period he has also authored a number of top selling books –including Razor (the Ned Kelly Award-winning account of Tilly Devine and Sydney’s razor gangs), Never Before, Never Again (the saga of the record-breaking St George rugby league teams of the 1950’s and ’60’s) First Blood (the story of the sea battle between HMAS Sydney and SMS Emden in 1914)
The Australian Book of True Crime, Pleasure and Pain (the biography of Chrissy Amphlett) Garden of Evil (the story of the hunt for the Granny Killer) and Winning (a book of interviews with Australian sports legends)
Larry has also ghost-written the autobiographies of John Newcombe, Rex Mossop, Greg Alexander, Dan Crowley, Kevin Walters, John Peard and Paul & Tami Roos. Larry's latest book is 'Bumper' - The Life & Times of Frank 'Bumper' Farrell.
