After a bloody civil war across the galaxy, the colony of Quantar has re-connected with the Historians of Old Earth, together building a new fledgling coalition and with it the Unified Space Navy.

Lieutenant Peter Cochrane of the Quantar Royal Navy has his future clearly mapped out. It begins with his new assignment as an officer on Her Majesty's Spaceship Starbound, a Lightship bound for deep space voyages of exploration.

But everything changes when Peter is summoned to the office of his father, Grand Admiral Nathan Cochrane, and given devastating news: the death of a loved one. In a distant solar system, a mysterious and unprovoked attack upon the Lightship Impulse resulted in the deaths of Peter's former girlfriend and many of her shipmates.

The newly minted Lt. Commander Peter Cochrane is transferred to a USN ship crewed mostly by strangers, with orders to protect the coalition at any cost, or risk an apocalyptic interstellar war.

Dave Bara is from Seattle, Washington, and has worked a Business Analyst, Technical Writer, Editor, and Project Manager in the aerospace, internet, software, wireless, electrical power utility and financial industries. Dave grew up as a fan of the Gemini and Apollo space programs and has published various short stories and has one published novel, Speedwing, in eBook from small US publisher Whisky Creek Press.
