Hypoxic Heart

In the vertical city of Aero, breath is the only currency that matters.

Built on the rim of a massive, dormant volcanic crater, the city is choked by a heavy, invisible "Miasma" that pools in the depths. The rich live at the summit in thin, pure air, while the poor scavenge in the toxic fog below, paying for every lungful of compressed oxygen.

Elara is a Canary. Cursed with hyper-sensitive lungs that bleed at the slightest rise in toxicity, she is a living alarm system for the mines. Fragile, pale, and treated as equipment rather than a person, she has spent her life in a gilded cage, guarded by the elite who use her pain to stay safe.

Kaelen is a Diver. A scarred scavenger who free-dives into the deadliest layers of the crater to salvage ancient technology, he is addicted to the "Rapture"-the euphoric high of near-asphyxiation. He is reckless, lethal, and slowly dying from the toxicity he craves.

When Kaelen kidnaps Elara to guide him to the crater's floor, their survival becomes a desperate negotiation. Elara needs his oxygen tanks to keep breathing; Kaelen needs her bleeding lungs to navigate the invisible, shifting currents of death.

Trapped in the suffocating dark, forced to share masks and air in a proximity that blurs the line between survival and desire, they discover that the Miasma isn't just gas. It is the exhalation of something ancient sleeping beneath the rock. And it is waking up.
