Humanity's Strings

The book intends to interrogate the nature of Reality against Fantasy as the two are presented to and created by the Human consciousness; a consciousness that is in constant struggle with the omnipresence of misery and death. It brings into focus the central ideas of the book through the association of being, pessimism, and fantasy as descriptors of the string that convert the Human into a creature akin to a puppet: hung by strings and controlled by forces unseen, unknown, and ungoverned.
It intends, through a study of the metaphysical and existential philosophies of thinkers like Franz Brentano, Edmund Husserl, Kierkegaard, Arthur Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Derrida, to dwell further upon this relation to find out not only how and why the self interacts with fantasy but also what is so fundamental about fantasy that forces the self towards a unity that impacts existence in the modern world with its questions of justice, politics, and materiality. Further, since Time and Space become the two pillars on which the reality of the universe, and, concomitantly, the reality of the aforementioned unity of the self rests, the book uses these two a-prior aspects as grounds on which the interactions between being, pessimism and fantasy takes place. Finally, the book also intends to situate Fantasy novels (of authors like Stephen King, Brandon Sanderson, Douglas Adams, and Robert Jordan) as discourses which delineate the considerations hinted above as ideas which modulate the existence of the Human.
