Hell's Bells

Hell's Bells is the third book in the much beloved series, Uncle Xbox.

Uncle Xbox is now in a relationship with Lil, and Dusty is jealous of having to share their time together. The positive is that Taj, Lil s son, challenges Dusty in the surf and helps him to regain his confidence.

Dusty makes the state soccer team and with Lil's encouragement, surfs heats in Adelaide and gains entry in the Bells Beach Classic Surf Competition. The only problem he's still terrified of surfing big waves. Can he push through his fear to be the best?

A coming-of-age story that explores the importance of male role models for young men and overcoming your fears. A great book for reluctant readers.

About the Author

Dr Jared Thomas is a Nukunu person of the Southern Flinders Ranges. He s a Research Fellow of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Material Culture at the South Australian Museum and University of South Australia, and an Indigenous Literacy Foundation ambassador.

He is the highly regarded author of critically acclaimed books for young adults including Sweet Guy, which was short-listed for both the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards and the Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature, and Calypso Summer, for which Jared was awarded the Kuril Dhagun Indigenous Writing Fellowship, and which was selected by the International Youth Library as a White Raven Book and short-listed for the Victorian Premier s Literary Award for Indigenous Writing.
