What a treasure I found that my mother had left me. It was a typed, bound book, Heavy Bombardment. My father, Grenville Mott and his co-author, Martin Kern, wrote this play after being stationed in England with the Eighth Air Force during World War II and returning home in 1946. Mott and Kern hoped to sell their play as a screenplay to Hollywood.
This historical fiction three act play is a 24 hour eye-witness account in the War Room of a B-24 466th Bombardment Group, Eighth Air Force, one day in England, during World War II and March 1945.
It is a dramatic and humorous story about a B-24 bomber crew, Air Force officers, enlisted men, Red Cross women, and a French donkey mascot named "Pierre."
Heavy Bombardment is a fun, humorous and enjoyable story. You will love listening to this play*.*
