The eyes are a window to the soul, but what if that soul isn't human?

One spends its days basking in blissful, willing ignorance. The other hides by possessing and masquerading as innocent citizens.
From the world of Spetsveytil, yet so raised and molded by the memories of the people he takes over that his ideals, emotions, and thoughts are unquestionably Human, Zanevel is something stuck in between. That is the least of the young Spetsveytil's struggles however, as he fights to survive in a bountiful territory that lures many threats, none greater than the keeper he so diligently shadows.
Everything changes when he meets a young woman named Daisy. Revealed to be a Shepherd, a hunter of his kin, Daisy offers to help the living shadow find Goturfall Tyr, the legendary doorway back to his world. In return, he must become hers and adopt her ways.
As the forces of Spetsveytil and Shepherd clash in Port Newell, the once clear lines delimiting hunter and prey are blurred. Caught between them, Zanevel must make an impossible choice: continue surviving as is and hope that one day he will find his home, but make a new powerful enemy out of Daisy and her hunters; or push beyond the fear and the instincts keeping him alive to learn what it means to live, betraying his kind and the being he swore loyalty to, the Alpha of Port Newell and the wielder of the ruinous black flames, Fendrime.
