As Texas and the southern states try to rebuild after the American Civil War, Deputy United States Marshals, Wyatt Chambers and Robert Barton, find themselves chasing desperados through the Texas Hill Country. Traveling along forgotten Indian trails that snake through the rugged terrain they discover a desperate Rebel army preparing to return to the battlefield. Outmanned and outgunned, Wyatt and Robert take the fight to the enemy as they try to save their town from annihilation. Against all odds they force the fight out into the desolate western plains of Texas where the land is as much an enemy as the gunmen they pursue.
