Forgotten Ghosts

Doctor Kristin Hughes is a woman always on the run. As the lead bomb technician for America's Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST) the nuclear physicist is continuously getting into one tight spot or another, usually not of her own making. This time is no different. 

Back in the 1950s, the army seemingly left an unexploded atomic bomb on the sea floor of Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. The bomb, the remains of a malfunctioning weapons test, was accidentally discovered by an unsuspecting local scuba diver. After identifying it as a real bomb, the diver enlists the help of a nefarious salvager to help him pull it off the sea floor. The salvager, a man always looking for a proper payday, drags the unsuspecting local man into the dark world of illegal weapons sales. 

Unknown to everyone in the salvage operation, the discovery of the bomb was also captured by an ancient piece of NSA software left over from the beginnings of the internet. With an anomaly detected in the American intelligence machine, Kristin gets requested to quietly go out into the tropical islands of the pacific and see what she can find. What she ends up finding is trouble. Trouble that will lead her into a world of looting scavengers, dangerous middlemen, and drug smugglers moving forced labor across the border. All of this misery being funded by a traitorous element inside the American government. A traitor in the form of a deranged congresswoman bent on using the newly found atomic bomb to create chaos. The kind of overwhelming chaos which will allow her to rewrite important pieces of the constitution.

Even beaten, shot and bloody it will take more than this to stop Kristin Hughes. Both an FBI agent and a ghost from the NSA are required to keep Hughes alive as she chases the mystery bomb from the middle of the Pacific Ocean all the way to the American Southwest. With lethal opposition at every turn, her simple assignment becomes a full-on race to save America, with no time to spare. If everything goes well, Kristin might even live through it. That is, if the bomb doesn't go off first.
