"Did you just wash yourself? I can smell the soap..." September, 1944 in the middle of war. Shizuma Tanaka, currently a lower ranking pilot, is overjoyed with the arrival of his white silk scarf- symbolic of his position as a pilot for his nation. While walking around enjoying his scarf, he notices someone smoking in the darkness of the night. Without a second thought, he calls out to this person an immediately regrets it. The person smoking is Sub-Lieutenant Shozo Yagi, known to throw "tantrums" that would lead to bullying lower-ranking soldiers. It's already too late though, and the two begin to talk. Yagi says he was only thinking of where he grew up... but suddenly asks Shizuma about his smell... beginning a very surprising night between the two.
