Patrick and Rhys fall for each other against the backdrop of the miners strike back in 1984. It is almost an impossible time for a striking Derbyshire miner to let his feelings wrap around those of a serving police officer but neither of them can help it, and they somehow manage to find themselves the time and the space to be together and share the joy that's exploded into the hearts of them both.
But the strike isn't the only problem they have to face and one of them has to break the other one's heart.
Forty years later and circumstances bring them the two of them back together but on the other side of the world in Melbourne, Australia. And the feelings are still very much there.
But is that the truth for both of them?
And at the end there's more to enjoy with a short story called 'SIMON' whose world comes crashing down but that still isn't the end of it.
