A taut and twisty white-knuckle thriller from a new Scottish writer Former hot-shot lawyer Logan Finch settled into a new life for himself and his daughter Ellie, and has a blossoming relationship with Detective Constable Rebecca Irvine. But that relationship is put to the test when Irvine's old flame, drug-addicted rock star Roddy Hale, enters her life again—and there's also the small matter of a professional killer following her every move. Finch's client and best friend Alex Cahill, close-protection operative and ex-U.S. army special-forces soldier, hates babysitting celebrities, but maybe Tara Byrne will be different. A Scots girl about to break into Hollywood, she is back in Scotland for a film premiere and is the target of a disturbed stalker, so she needs Cahill and his team to watch her back. As the clouds roll in to blanket the sky at the end of an Indian summer, violence erupts all round, putting everyone at risk. For Logan, there are impossible choices to be made: between his best friend and the woman he loves, and between who lives and who dies.
