Elizabeth Harrower
"Anna felt her skeleton waver secretly, as though it were seaweed pressed about by movements of deepest seas, invisible of the glittering surface."
Elizabeth Harrower, an Australian novelist and short story writer, was considered "one of the great novelists of Sydney" and was the author of the novels Down in the City, The Long Prospect, The Catherine Wheel, The Watch Tower and In Certain Circles, which was published in 2014 and shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Fiction in 2015. Elizabeth lived in Sydney until her death in July 2020.
Michelle de Kretser wrote of Harrower: "Her fiction obsessively circles the workings of power within the domestic sphere. Watchfulness, cruelty and the suffering of the innocent feed her work."
