In Dongying, secrets don't stay buried. They just learn to walk in daylight.
Ashe came to China to teach English and stayed for the life he built: a house in the newer district, a girlfriend who trusts him, a weekend school, and a pen name that pays the bills. He told himself the third year would be quieter. He told himself Lucy was only a voice in his headphones.
Lucy is twenty-one, a third-year English major with an America-shaped dream and a boyfriend who cooks for her. She records Ashe's books after lights-out because the pay is good—and because the sentences make her ache in a way kindness never has. She still calls him teacher sometimes. She still tells herself it's practice.
Then September happens.
A late walk near the east gate. A stumble on uneven concrete. A kiss that two years of pizza nights and unsent messages had been waiting for. After that, there is no clean version of the story—only hotel desks that want IDs, unfinished rooms that smell of paint, winter cars with fogged glass, and a city that notices everything.
She wants him raw and real and only hers. He wants her in ways that wreck the man he pretended to be. Around them: a girlfriend who finds a file she was never meant to hear, a roommate one unlocked chat away from disaster, a school auntie who sees more than she says, and a kind boy who still believes Lucy is waiting for him.
Dongying Secret is a slow-burn, high-heat contemporary erotic romance about forbidden desire, cultural risk, and the double life you can't stop choosing. Explicit adult content. For readers 18+.
If you like secret affairs, age-gap heat, expat settings, morally gray heroes, and love stories that refuse a tidy ending—this one will stay under your skin.
