At twenty-three, former TV star Kit Wilder has officially hit rock bottom. Blacklisted from Hollywood and desperate for a fresh start, she retreats to the picture-perfect town of Westdale — all manicured lawns, old money, and Mayflower pedigrees — to quietly finish her degree and renovate a charming fixer-upper. Simple enough, right?
Wrong. Before she can unpack a single box, Kit stumbles upon a skeleton hidden in her new home — and suddenly her quiet new life is anything but.
With the town abuzz and the devastatingly handsome Detective Romeo Moretti on the case (and her doorstep), Kit does what any sensible former TV detective would do: she starts investigating. After all, she spent three seasons playing the brilliant Ellie Gold — surely some of that had to sink in.
Aided by a delightful cast of new neighbors and hindered by her gin-soaked, razor-tongued mother — the undisputed queen of Westdale society — Kit must crack the case before someone decides she's next on the list.
Part whodunit, part homecoming, and entirely charming — perfect for fans of small-town mysteries with heart, humor, and a heroine who refuses to give up.
