Saving the galaxy requires a genius. Or just a guy who refuses to play by the rules.
Sandro Hoppe has a perfectly simple plan for his life: pass his exams, pay his rent, and eventually catch up on his sleep. Commanding an alien armada definitely isn't on his schedule. But when he wakes up light-years from home with a splitting hangover and a ridiculous bioluminescent tattoo that the locals mistake for an ancient divine prophecy, things rapidly spiral out of control.
Mistakenly crowned the Supreme Mind, he finds himself at the helm of an empire crippled by absurd, millennia-old military rituals. The problem? A ruthless enemy is at their gates, and the fleet's dogmas guarantee a certain—and highly "honorable"—doom. Surrounded by religious zealots and high-ranking officers just waiting for his first slip-up to eliminate him, Sandro possesses exactly zero actual military experience.
What he does have, however, is a decade of expertise in strategic simulations, spent staring at a screen in his dorm room.
If orthodox tactics won't cut it, it's time for all-out human chaos. To survive, he will have to turn this galactic war into his own personal game board, shatter every interstellar rule, and prove that sometimes the greatest strategic insight is simply knowing how to game the system.
Commander by Mistake is a smart, fast-paced, and sharp-witted space satire. It is a tale of the collision between blind fanaticism and human pragmatism, packed with unpredictable twists, political intrigue, and a reluctant hero who really just wants to go home.
Step into a world where the deadliest weapon isn't a plasma cannon but the audacity to think differently.
