A monastery built on the ruins of a dead city. A series of violent deaths. And an eclipse that seems to confirm the darkest fears of an entire community.
When Brother Anselmo arrives at an isolated mountain monastery as a visitor for his Order, he finds a community already gripped by unease. Strange signs have appeared in the sky, old stories have resurfaced, and whispers of curses and evil presences are growing louder.
Then the deaths begin.
While fear turns rapidly into superstition, Anselmo and his companion Gregorio search for something far less reassuring than omens: facts. But in a place where almost everyone has something to hide, separating belief from deception becomes increasingly difficult.
Someone is using fear as a weapon.
And as blood continues to be shed, Anselmo must discover whether a murderer is hiding behind superstition—or whether the supernatural is the perfect alibi.
A medieval mystery of murder, faith and superstition, set in the early fourteenth century.
Blood Eclipse is part of The Monk Anselmo Mysteries. Each novel features a complete, self-contained investigation and can be read independently.
