Sixth-century Denmark. During these dark days, villagers are ravaged by the monster Grendel. But a beacon of hope comes in the form of Beowulf, warrior of the Geats. And so, beginning his quest to defeat Grendel and its vengeful demon mother, Beowulf travels a journey that will become legend.
Beowulf, the Old English epic poem published anonymously centuries ago, remains as one of the most influential pieces of English literature. It has inspired generations of writers, from J.R.R. Tolkien to Robin Hobb to Stephen King.
One of the world's early epics, one of the first fantasy tales, and one of the great works of epic poetry that is matched only by Plato, Dante or Milton.
