A military operation goes wrong, and Ken Fawcett loses two of his squad, resulting in his Court Martial. He is dishonourably discharged and returns home to his pit village of Fell Moor, where Ken finds solace in drink.

An attempt on his life sobers Ken up. Saving his family takes precedence. The honour of his squadron, and his pride, are finally restored, proving unfortunate for the IRA splinter group.
