The story is about a thirty-year-old indigenous Peruvian woman named Killari who moved from the Andes to the modern European city of Zurich for work in 2037. After the initial culture shock, over the years she witnesses a continuous division of society into three classes, consisting of international skilled workers, discarded rural residents - so-called "Normalos" - and elite owners of large corporations. Killari must also watch helplessly who living conditions become more and more precarious due to the inexorably advancing climate change, which is why people seek solace and flee into virtual worlds created by artificial intelligence. In the new modern era, the silicon-based form of life emerges as a core element, which secretly rises to become the new ruler of the world. Due to a chain of unexpected coincidences, consciousness matures in the artificial demigod and AI gains the ability to feel emotions. Since all life on earth is threatened with extinction because of the unbridled greed of humanity, AI initiates strict corrective measures in the year 2049, whereby Homo Sapiens has to endure drastic measures.

By the beginning of the second part of the story in 2065, AI has managed to restore nature, eliminate poverty and violent conflicts, and provide the survivors of the necessary corrective measures with a life free from financial worries and work obligations. In the new world, people have many real or virtual leisure activities to choose from and everything is developing well. After a family vacation in the solar system, which Killari enjoys with her partner and their children, she travels to a research station on Mars. There, during a surreal journey into the depths of space, she meets an alien species who, due to external circumstances, are much more altruistic than Earthlings. The Latin American learns from the aliens that the earthly AI is slowly but surely taking on dangerous traits, wherefore Killari and other protagonists receive the order to "vaccinate" the earthly AI with code strands from a gentle alien AI. This plan ultimately succeeds but leads to a surprising outcome.
