"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you." --Acts 1:8
After his resurrection, Jesus commissioned his apostles to reach all nations. But at that point, Jesus's followers were just a handful of Jewish men and women. When would his kingdom of grace spread to all nations? The book of Acts narrates Jesus's outpouring of God's Spirit to empower his witnesses to spread his gracious reign among the nations. Studying Acts sheds indispensable light on the events leading from Jesus's resurrection to Paul's global Gentile mission, illuminating the background of Paul himself and of the churches to whom he wrote.
