How do you quantify a human soul when the instrument registers absolute silence? In a tightly controlled world governed by the Bureau of Consciousness, identity is no longer a personal truth—it is a measured metric. Your rights, your social standing, and your worth are dictated by a number on your wrist and a certified recording in a cold digital archive. The system is flawless, unquestioned, and absolute. Until an impossible reading appears in the queue. A Complete Recording by Gertraud Magold is a chilling, tech-noir short-story, set at the intersection of dystopian bureaucracy and existential mystery. Haunting, minimal, and intensely thought-provoking, this speculative fiction novel explores quiet surveillance, the limits of human measurement, and the dark spaces between who we are and what the machine sees. For readers of philosophical sci-fi and quiet, suspenseful speculative fiction.
