Augustine is a reflective historical novel that follows the spiritual journey of Augustine of Hippo from restless ambition to Christian faith. Set across North Africa, Rome, and Milan, the story portrays Augustine's struggles with desire, philosophy, skepticism, and the search for truth. Guided by the persistent prayers of his mother, Monica, he gradually moves away from worldly success and intellectual pride toward spiritual transformation. Influenced by thinkers, friends, and Bishop Ambrose of Milan, Augustine experiences a dramatic conversion in a garden in Milan after hearing the words "Take up and read." The novel explores themes of grace, free will, guilt, longing, and redemption with emotional depth and philosophical insight. More than a biography, it is a meditation on the human heart's restless search for meaning, truth, and peace in God.
