The story takes place in Memphis, United States, during the summer of 2019. Set against the backdrop of the Hong Kong government's revision of the "Fugitive Offenders Ordinance" under the directive of the Chinese Communist Party, it sparked a world-shaking and intense six-month-long "Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement" by the Hong Kong people.

Peng Su, a Chinese writer who had fled and settled in the United States, works as a Chinese teacher at a school in Memphis. There, he encounters the beautiful American woman, Seraphina. Having grown up in Hong Kong and pursued a music education, she deeply loves Hong Kong. However, circumstances forced her to seek refuge in the United States.

Within the school, there are colleagues named Ah Ben and Luo Wen. In their pursuit of Seraphina's love, they each employ their own skills and abilities. However, Peng Su and Seraphina shared passion for literature, music, and their love for Hong Kong, especially their unwavering commitment to the "Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement," elevate their mutual appreciation to the kindling of a beautiful love.

The novel, through its delicate prose-like language and abundant details, depicts the entire process from Peng Su and Seraphina's initial encounter to their mutual appreciation and the eventual blooming of their radiant love. Moreover, it establishes the foundation of their emotional connection on the grounds of their support for the progression of the "Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement" in Hong Kong.

The novel portrays the character "Abian" as a "patriot," depicting his despicable personality and accompanying traits of dark, narrow-minded jealousy. He becomes intertwined with Peng Su and Serafina, creating compelling scenes throughout the story. In the end, in a fit of madness, he cruelly harms Serafina during a demonstration in support of Hong Kong attended by Peng Su and Seraphina.

On the other hand, Luo Wen represents a different archetype, strategically employing the allure of wealth to seek the favor of Seraphina.

The novel vividly portrays the distinctive cultural and human landscapes of Memphis while presenting the various facets of the lives of the Chinese community residing there.

Through this novel, the author pays homage to the brave and great people of Hong Kong who participated in the fervent and sacrificial "Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement."
