About the Author

Canny 8-year-old readers have noticed the similarity between her name and that of the elusive H.I. Larry, the pseudonym author behind the very successful Zac Power series. Aimed at reluctant boy readers, Zac Power, hit Australian shelves in 2006 as has since gone on to sell almost 1 million books.

This is Hilary’s debut young adult novel after abandoning a potential career as a lawyer with a HECS debt to make her weep, Hilary Badger began working as an advertising copywriter in 2000. Since then, she has created award-winning campaigns for products including chocolate bars, cat food, paint, underwear and tourism. Working in advertising has provided Hilary with excellent training in imagining someone else’s life. Perhaps this is why making the leap to writing fiction wasn’t so big a deal for her.
