A welcome return to Lasquenet, the small town in rural France that was the setting for Joanne Harris's remarkable number one bestseller Chocolat.

Vianne Rocher is called back to Lasquenet by a letter from beyond the grave...

It isn't often you receive a letter from the dead.

When Vianne Rocher receives a letter from beyond the grave, she has no choice but to follow the wind that blows her back to Lansquenet, the village in which eight years ago, she opened up a Chocolate shop. But returning to her old home, Vianne is completely unprepared for what she is to find there. Women veiled in black, the scent of spices and peppermint tea - and there, on the bank of the river Tannes, facing the church, a minaret.

About the Author

Joanne Harris is the author of the Whitbread-shortlisted Chocolat (made into an Oscar-nominated film starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp) and seven other bestselling novels. Her hobbies are listed in Who's Who as 'mooching, lounging, strutting, strumming, priest-baiting and quiet subversion'. She plays bass guitar in a band first formed when she was 16, is currently studying Old Norse, and lives with her husband and daughter in Yorkshire, about 15 miles from the place she was born.
Industry Reviews
"Vianne -- unconventional, good-hearted, slightly magical -- blows in like a refreshing breeze, forcing people to question their prejudices. A delight." --"The Times" " " "A delightful jumble of the sensuous sights, sounds and smells the author describes so well." --"Glamour" " " "Her characteristic love affair with texture, scents, smells and sounds immerses the reader in a bath of seductive imagery in a brave and grippingly confected story." --"The Sunday Times"
