An outline of the methods of Fimite Elements at two major Indian Universties, VTU and JNTU is developed. The subject of FEM started with the analysis of struts and bridge members as early as the 1800's and slowly developed during the 1950's with the automobile industry.
It is now common to most engineering syllabi. A good basis in the subject is essential to advance in the profession and in academic pursuits.
