Wheedonville by the Sea is in trouble, and slick promotion man Wiley Cordes is about to be blamed for its empty hotels and vanished tourist season. Cornered by the Chamber of Commerce, he salvages his reputation with a wildly audacious proposal: if he can't outmarket rival Burden Bay, he'll outmaneuver it by changing the weather itself. Backed by desperate businessmen willing to overlook their scruples, Cordes takes to the skies in a converted bomber packed with dry ice, seeding clouds to unleash snowstorms over the competition. His comic campaign of climate sabotage traps travelers, wrecks cancellations, and briefly turns Wheedonville into the coast's lucky beneficiary. As profits rise and the Chamber hails him as a genius, Cordes grows bolder, imagining even greater control over rain and cold. But the scheme is built on a fragile edge. When another aircraft appears in his wake, the truth emerges: Burden Bay has copied the trick and reinvented itself as a ski resort, leaving Wheedonville's fortunes frozen out. This sharp, satirical tale mixes business rivalry, technological mischief, and ironic reversal. This edition has been fully restored with modern typesetting, custom cover design.
