Booktopia’s Favourite Australian Book Award is back for another year, and you’d best believe it’s bigger and better than ever!

Because not only are we on the hunt to find the Australian book you loved the most in 2021, we also want to show some love to our in-house favourites. That’s right, this year we’re giving away THREE awards — one for the 2021 Favourite Australian Book, as voted by you, and two new ones: Booktopia’s Favourite Book and Booktopia’s Australian Debut Book!

Booktopia’s Favourite Book Award will champion the book chosen by our very own team of book experts as their favourite book of the year. The award will be given only to an Australian author, to highlight the amazing talent of our homegrown writers.

And Booktopia’s Favourite Australian Debut Book Award will then champion an Australian author who made their debut in 2021. This award will be given to a debut book in any category, be it fiction, non-fiction, children’s, young adult or lifestyle book, as long as it’s published in Australia in the past 12 months. It will also be chosen by Booktopia’s team of book experts, who have one hell of a job ahead of them!

The winners of all three prizes will each be awarded $5,000 in cash.

Mark your calendars!

Round 1 of voting opens today and closes on Wednesday 19th January.

Round 2 will be the Top Ten, and will be open from Monday 24th January to Monday 31st January.

The winner will be announced on Wednesday 3rd February.

You can only vote once per round, but you can pick as many books as you’d like. What’s more, there are 5 x $100 Booktopia Gift Certificates up for grabs for anyone who votes in the FAB Award.*

Last year, you cast a combined 151,000 votes to crown Nat’s What I Reckon’s book Un-Cook Yourself as the Australian book that captured the hearts of readers in 2021.

Who will win this year? That’s up to you!
