For fans of Gena Showalter's Underworld and Rachel Van Dyken's Fallen Gods fantasies, this is an opposites attract, slow burn, forced proximity Modern Greek Mythology story with suspense, spice, and speed dating that goes wrong in all the right ways.
Shot through the heart. But maybe dying's better than facing him...
Especially when she finds out, in this emotional, sensual, slow burn adventure, that even the most modern-minded Greek gods are no fun when they're committed to a revenge mission.
And Apollo of Olympus, most beautiful when he's pissed off, is all-in for punishing his enemies.
Why is Irowen Steed in such a love-hate relationship with that epiphany?
Apollo isn't thrilled about the idea either. Not on his ops grid for tonight: having to heal the rebellious little mortal now bleeding out beneath his golden arrow. Never mind that she started this mess; he needs Irowen's help to find the demigod criminal who stole one of the strings from his prized lyre. In the wrong mortal hands, the magical artifact is capable of great damage across several realms.
The search takes the unlikely couple to the avenues of the Underworld, where they strike a deal while posing as starstruck lovers at a multi-realms speed dating party. But when their contract of convenience turns into a race against the clock, forced proximities become deep bonds they don't expect, carnal heat they can't ignore, and an ultimate truth they can no longer deny...
Sometimes, love really is painful.
