'This is a much-needed guidebook from a true agent of change.’ Sarah Wilson

We need to talk about waste. Shrink-wrapped vegies, disposable coffee cups, clothes and electronics designed to be upgraded every year: we are surrounded by stuff that we often use once and then throw away. Each year Australian households produce enough rubbish to fill a three-bedroom home, including thousands of dollars worth of food and an ever-increasing amount of plastic, which takes hundreds of years to break down and often ends up in our oceans or our food chain.

But what to do about such a huge problem? Is it just the price we pay for the conveniences of modern life? What if it were possible to have it both ways – to live a modern life with less waste?

That’s where Erin Rhoads, aka The Rogue Ginger, comes in. Erin went from eating plastic-packaged takeaway while shopping online for fast fashion, to becoming one of Australia’s most popular eco-bloggers. Erin knows that small changes can have a big impact. In Waste Notshe shares everything she’s learnt from her own funny, inspiring – and far-from-perfect – journey to living with less waste.

Learn how to:

  • switch out the disposable plastics from your shopping trolley
  • make simple cleaning solutions free from harmful chemicals
  • find your favourite beauty products without all the packaging
  • give a baby shower present that won’t end up in the charity shop bag
  • plan your own zero-waste wedding (and what ‘zero waste’ even means!)

This book is incredible! It contains simple yet practical ways of reducing your waste particularly single use plastics. The tone is positive and helpful and emphasises the fact if you do you best with the mission to waste less, then you're doing great! There's always more to learn which is why i've found it so useful -split into sections such as food, composting and more, it's a practical reference book for all!

Love it

Everyone should have this on hand to understand where we're at in terms of wastage and what we can do to limit it. But what is best about this book and that the author doesn't guilt you, on the contrary she understands that everyone is different and do what they can and that is already lots!

Love the style and tone of this book. No matter whether you're a committed zero-waster or just thinking about buying your first reusable coffee cup, it covered so many 'everyday' topics plus offered loads of practical solutions and alternatives. I think it's a great reference book to dip in and out of and a useful 'how to' guide at a time when plastic and waste discussions are becoming more & more mainstream. I Can't wait to try some more of the recipes and tips too!

Perfect book for changing attitudes on waste

So far I've read three quarters of the book. The structure after the first section makes it easy to dip in and out of it. I enjoy spending time with the author believing she lives the life she writes about. This book is an excellent reminder a modern life with less waste is achievable.
