Featuring papers written over the past two decades, this volume addresses a mixture of conceptual and methodological problems, such as the theory of comparative advantage and the dynamics of interaction between the advanced and developing regions of the world economy - and topical and historical problems, such as the impact of oil shocks on employment and the role of trade and slavery in the emergence of the Industrial Revolution. The majority of these papers develop a model derived from the tradition of classical and neoclassical trade theory, and apply it to a relevant analytical or historical question.
