Whether parents have picky or adventurous eaters and whether they love to cook or just endure it, getting dinner on the table weeknight after weeknight is enough to make a parent throw in the towel.
It's a grind that wore down former Cookie magazine editors, Pilar Guzmn, Jenny Rosentrach, and Alanna Stanguntil they made it their mission to figure out all the ways they could reclaim the family dinner.
Time for Dinner is that playbook of tricks, inspiration, plans, and 100 go-to recipes. With 250 photographs, it's a visual toolkit of a book that gives every parent the ideas and strategies they need to get a great family meal on the table night after night without losing their minds (or sense of humour).
About the Author
Pilar Guzman was the founding editor-in-chief of Cookie, is a frequent interviewee in national print and broadcast media, a former senior editor and writer at Real Simple, and a regular contributor to the New York Times, among other national news and lifestyle publications. She has two children, ages 6 and 3.
I expected this book to be broader and cover a more interesting range of ideas about family dinners. Instead it is really just a collection of recipes, many of them heavily Tex-Mex and not really weeknight dinner friendly without a major shift in most Australian pantry contents. It's nicely put together but it's going straight to the op shop in my next cookbook clean out.
