Very informative

Very enlightening read about how nutritious common weeds can be. My only complaint is that it covers a small handful of weeds and I would've liked to learn about more, as there are many that grow near me and aren't listed as edible or inedible. The inedible section is also quite short. Each weed has quite a lot of explanation and information, so it is very useful for those weeds included. There are some recipes as well but my main interest is in finding out what's edible and what isn't. Although it's called a "handbook" it's not a field guide, just a list of weeds, one after the other, with information like their nutritional benefits and whether any special preparation is required before eating them (e.g. some need to be boiled first).

An excellent companion for foragers

This a fantastic resource for those wishing to forage for edible plants in Australia. As a horticulturalist I can vouch that it is well researched, engaging and reliable. Importantly, the pictures are clear and it is genuinely a handbook - small enough to fit in your bag (I take it almost everywhere with me at the moment!). A must for those who want to supplement their diet with free healthy greens.

Very easy informative read, which can be read cover to cover, little bit everyday or whenever you need to look up a weed specie. Just like the authors former novel: The Art of Frugal Hedonism, they effortlessly combine humour, history and valuable facts and information with their own personal anecdotes. I loved that it provided information related to Melbourne as well as the rest of Australia. Detailed photos and drawings of the weed species. Bottom line - excellent read, although did enjoy their first novel even more!

I take this book out in the garden with me, and use the beautifully done colour photos to identify my weeds. I also marks the weeds in the book that I want to go looking for in the parks.
