The ancient order of the Knights Templar possessed untold wealth and absolute power, until the Inquisition destroyed them and their riches were lost forever.
But some people don't believe in 'forever'.
Ex-agent Cotton Malone used to work for Stephanie Nelle in the US Justice Department. Now Nelle wants his help to crack a series of puzzles that have confounded experts for centuries - and could lead to the legendary lost treasure of the Knights Templar.
But someone else is on the trail - someone prepared to commit the ultimate crime to win the ultimate prize. Malone and Nelle find themselves in a heart-stopping race through the villages, castles and cloisters of Europe in pursuit of a secret that, in the wrong hands, could bring the world to its knees.
Author Biography: Steve Berry lives on the coast in Georgia, USA, with his wife and daughter. He is a lawyer who has traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, and Russia.
A great adventure, nicely blending real history, fictional history, and action and adventure. Plenty of twists and turns I wasn't expecting. It was perhaps a little slow to get going, but powered along nicely once underway.
The author spent several pages at the end of the book describing which aspects of the story are actual historical fact, and which are fictional constructs for the sake of the story - something I enjoy and appreciate.
The Templar Legacy
'A major twist midway through the story ... the puzzles are so much fun ... radical thinking of the Gospels that's sure to spark some lively debate ... pretty grabby stuff' -- Wall Street Journal 'Not to be missed. Anagrams and complicated symbology abound, and comparisons to The Da Vinci Code are inevitable, but Berry distinguishes himself with a complex, well-written, and extremely readable story.' -- Library Journal 'Writes with the self-assured style of a veteran' -- Dan Brown on Steve Berry 'Steve Berry is a writer on the rise.' -- David Morrell, author of NIGHTSCAPE and CREEPERS 'Conspiracies and plots abound ... Not to be missed.' -- Kirkus Reviews, on THE ROMANOV PROPHECY 'Pure intrigue. Pure fun.' -- Clive Cussler on Steve Berry 'Pacy, action packed and intriguing' -- Adelaide Advertiser 'Steve Berry has a knack for tackling historical mysteries...Fabulous!' -- Woman's Day, Australia 'A seamless blend of fact and fiction...a first-class thriller...gripping...enlightening' -- Waikato Times, NZ 20060506
