About the Author

David Quammen is a science, nature and travel writer responsible for the column "Natural Acts" for Outside magazine for fifteen years. He has been published in National Geographic, Harper's, Rolling Stone, The New York Times Book Review and many others. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Quammen is a Yale graduate and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford before settling in Montana.
