About the Author
Judith Turner’s passion for clothing alterations began in the 1990s when her friend gave her a job in her fabric shop. She soon found that she had a natural gift at altering clothes and in 1996 she branched out and opened up her first shop with nothing except this skill. It was soon after opening her shop that Judith began writing manuals on clothing alterations for the staff. She wanted everyone to be altering the clothes in the same way, and also wanted to give her customers a 100% guarantee that the garment would be altered to their satisfaction.
I am a fan of Judith's articles in Stitches magazine, always found them to be excellent tutorials. I have learnt and applied many techniques from them. However, this book was disappointing for me, sketches not photos, very basic things like taking up hems! I was hoping for more methods for a person with more than basic sewing skills but not 'couture' if you know what I mean! I like to update, re-purpose or alter the good quality clothes my husband & I have accumulated.
I would recommend it to someone who has sewn a few basic things and would like to know how to tackle some repairs.
Great for a present.
Has all that the book is intended for.
