Wouldn’t it be wonderful if newspapers did more to share stories and insights that were really meaningful? Things that might help people lead more purposeful lives.

The Queen glanced over at him, uncertainly. ‘Tricky business, persuading the media to lift their sights from terror and trivia. Every one of us has tried.’ Pushing myself up so that I was balancing on my rear end, I fixed Kate with a pleading expression. She was a soft touch when it came to scones.

There was a pause while the family glanced in my direction. Before Kate said, 'Well, not every family member.'

Rescued from unscrupulous breeders who plan to destroy him because of his floppy ear, when the Queen’s littlest corgi arrives at Windsor Castle, he finds himself in a world of red carpets, gilded chambers – and not a pile of dirty laundry to be seen.

Charming his way into the affections of the royal household, Nelson offers a dog’s-eye view of life with the Queen. He eavesdrops on her encounters with celebrities, philanthropists and advisers, catching rare insights into the secrets of a purposeful life. Through one of Her Majesty’s most mysterious advisers, he discovers how the ancient ways and powerful symbols continue to exert a transformative presence. He also becomes familiar with the Queen’s most surprising quality: her gentle but firm expectation that everyone she encounters is striving to be the best that they can be.

The Queen’s Corgi bursts with zest, humour and adventure. Romping through the litany of Nelson’s misdemeanours are a warm-heartedness and deep wisdom sure to delight anyone who has known the smiling face and warm tongue of a dog. It is not by chance that you hold this book in your hands.

Enchanting

It was the cover that first caught my attention, probably because I grew up knowing 16 years of Corgi companionship and loyalty. Then the clear, deceptively simple style of writing propelled me through the pages. I found it a heart-warming read, because I was encouraged by the underlying messages.

Can't tell you how much David's books have helped me

You can't go past David Michie as an author. I've read all of his books and as a result took up a meditation practice and am now a meditation teacher! I love the way David uses animals to give us deep messages in a simple and easy to understand way. The characters have their distinctive personalities and a hint of mischief.

Absolutely

I haven't read "The Queens Corgi:On Purpose" yet but it is my intention to do so. I have read "The Dalai Lama's Cat" which has a powerful message written beautifully by the cat. No doubt the corgi will be just as capable as the cat at telling his story. David's books are life changing. They steer us towards peace and serenity enabling us to cope and learn from life's challenges. David reveals knowledge we are all born with but not aware of. He has a very easy and comfortable style of writing. I have seven of David's books which I have read multiple times and will continue to do so. Because of his own personal journey we are the beneficiaries. I am so grateful.

Simply brilliant!!

As a cat person, The Dalai Lama's Cat is such a beautiful idea - my own cat offers some brilliant insights into my life, as I'm sure every cat lover knows. And the idea of flipping this around and offering dog wisdom, as everyone knows that there are cat people and dog people, is just brilliant!

Delightful - another pet lovers paradise!

I am a huge fan of the Dalai Lamas Cat series and being being a true cat person I was a bit dubious of a "dog book " !; but this is a charming and well written tale ( or should I say Tail !) . David is insightful in the ways of humans & animals, his reflections on what we observe from our pets is uplifting and a joy to read.

A Truly Delightful Read

5

The Queen's Corgi is a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging story from start to finish filled with humour, gentle wisdom and the 'coming of age' for dear little Nelson, the Queen's corgi. The reader can also feel that they are having a peek into everyday palace life. A perfect gift for anyone who enjoys dogs, has any interest in the royal family, or would just like to become a kinder human being.
