NEWLY REVISED AND UPDATED

The Out-of-Sync Child broke new ground by identifying Sensory Processing Disorder, a common but frequently misdiagnosed problem in which the central nervous system misinterprets messages from the senses. This newly revised edition features additional information from recent research on vision and hearing deficits, motor skill problems, nutrition and picky eaters, ADHA, autism, and other related disorders.

Carol Stock Kranowitz, M.A., has been a preschool teacher for more than 25 years. She has developed an innovative program to screen young children for Sensory Processing Disorder, and writes and speaks regularly about the subject. She has an M.A. in Education and Human Development.

Insightful. Helpful. Simple.

When your child has SPD the most difficult thing is to explain to people exactly whats different about them and why they react differently to other children. Throughtout the chapters of information are simple examples of everyday children compared to "normal" children. Just reading the comparison tables is insightful before you even tackle the whole book.

An excellent resource

5

An excellent companion book to "Raising a Sensory Smart Child". Although these two books cover similar ground, reading both of them helps build a more complete picture of the issues surrounding Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).

Gives insight into the misunderstood

4

I found the book is useful to refer to in sections rather than to read the whole thing through at once, gives some interesting tips to be put in place on the spur of the moment when you really need them. May only be relevant if you can identify similar traits in your child.
