Ever wondered how hard it is to fit in when you are an individual thinker? The story begins set against the backdrop of suburban Sydney during the '80's as Fiona retells of her difficult upbringing . We commiserate with her as she faces hurdles amidst the antiquated education system and feel wonderment as she gains credibility whilst striving for success both within the music industry and as a prolific writer on Witchcraft. As the story nears the end, we are left with hope and joy as we understand what makes her tick. Come on the journey with Fiona and as you do, you'll realise that parts of her story are also our own. Inspirational!!

I was so moved by Fiona's profound honesty regarding her struggles with alcohol dependency and the disparity between her public persona and inner turmoil and self-doubt.

So much of what was described rang extremely loud bells for me.

As a long-time Def FX fan and admirer of Fiona's (I still remember seeing them for the first time at a lunchtime gig at Sydney Uni's Manning Bar in 1995!), I was astonished, at first, to learn of such deep-seated insecurity and need to please in someone with such a powerful and inspiring public image and presence.

But then, as I read on and those bells started ringing, I realised that it's not astonishing at all. It's all-too-familiar.

Fiona's story has inspired me to make choices for myself based on self-compassion, self-care, self-forgiveness and self-love, for my family, and for myself. As Fiona herself wrote, I want to be "better".
