This #1 New York Times best-selling guide to decluttering your home from Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes readers step-by-step through her revolutionary KonMari Method for simplifying, organizing, and storing.

Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?

Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method, with its revolutionary category-by-category system, leads to lasting results. In fact, none of Kondo's clients have lapsed (and she still has a three-month waiting list).

With detailed guidance for determining which items in your house "spark joy" (and which don't), this international bestseller featuring Tokyo's newest lifestyle phenomenon will help you clear your clutter and enjoy the unique magic of a tidy home-and the calm, motivated mindset it can inspire.

This is all about about uncluttering ones life

5

I loved this book, virtually read it in three days. Couldn't put it down. One can take the deeper psychology of de-cluttering and apply it to other facets of one's life. A friend has already borrowed it!

Excellent to overhaul your house!

Life changing and recommend it to anyone.

I love how this is written and would suggest the reader go and have a look at the author on Youtube first, then you may understand the Japanese way of thinking. The serenity of folding for instance, the Spark Joy concept. It helps to understand this and makes the book easier to understand. Folding for instance, has become a happier time and not a job! I would never have thought I would write that sentence!

For the first time ever, I FINALLY have a house that is actually organised! I never seemed to be able to "catch up" , always something that needed doing. Now I have space in my cupboards, drawers, and the clutter is gone. Love it!

Strong concepts, irritating execution

I suspect the mere decision to purchase this book results in bigger actions around decluttering your life than immersion in the book itself. I found it difficult to trust the author's stealth mode of operation for she recounts, amongst her childhood 'tidying' urges, judging a selection of her siblings' belongings as clutter, hiding those belongings and then secretly throwing them out. Imagine living with such a woman. Whew. I couldn't help noting the irony of 4-million copies of this book now cluttering people's lives. The style of writing is repetitive, belabouring worthwhile underlying messages. Nevertheless, even before the book -- thanks to a gifted book voucher -- arrived, I was seized with the urge to conduct a major clean-out (my own belongings!), and changed how I stored my clothes. It felt good.

Definitely a motivation to ditch

I read it everyday for a week and it influenced me greatly. I started feeling inspired about cleaning?!!

Definitely changes the way you deal with your things

I feel like this book is the only one you should buy if you're wanting to keep all your stuff organised. I don't know how anyone else could top this. It totally changed the way I look at my stuff, even though I'm not someone who hoards much or is very messy. I think it would work on almost anyone.
