Booktopia Comments

Due to the enormous success of the YouTube video (left) of B. J. Novak reading The Book with No Pictures to a room full of spellbound kids, the publishers were caught out and all stock of the book sold out worldwide in moments.

Product Description

This innovative and wildly funny read-aloud by award-winning humorist/actor B.J. Novak will turn any reader into a comedian.

You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except . . . here's how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say . . .

BLORK. Or BLUURF.

Even if the words are a preposterous song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of astonishingly goofy sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.

Cleverly irreverent and irresistibly silly, The Book with No Pictures is one that kids will beg to hear again and again. (And parents will be happy to oblige.)

He is a graduate of Harvard University with a degree in English and Spanish literature.

This was bought for a 3 year old grandson who is experimenting with language and sounds and he loved the book, he asked his parents to read it over and over. Very clever book. I ordered it online and sent it to him in Sydney even though I am in England

My 3 year old adores this book, and loves having it read to her. It is such an intelligent kids book, and perfect for making reading fun. Highly recommended to all parents with kids aged 2-3 plus - it makes for a lovely experience. My daughter delights in 'tricking' every new person by getting them to read it to her, it's wonderful.

I had seen a good reviews of this book, and thought it would be a different type of book for our preschool. The children, especially beginning readers absolutely love the humour and the alternative to picture books. Good fun. Love it!!

Excellent story for the young reader

Bought this book for my student teacher daughter who has been using this extensively in the classroom. Inspires the young student to think about what they are hearing instead of seeing it in illustrations that usually accompany this type of book.

I love the flexibility & creativity this books enables. It's great watching students "read" it after I've given a couple of "styles" & interpretations. My class got right "into it!"
